Colossus comet was born from a wild and crazy short story idea I had to include at some point in my writings. I’m not sure if I will include it as part of a larger story yet or publish it as a standalone feature but that’s the origin for this work.
The idea for the setting is that this comet is the size of a small moon, Tumbling wildly, and filled with constantly expelling gas pockets like a seeping sponge. it also happens to have a lawless colony inside it, the only problem is almost no one is actually skilled enough to fly to that colony because to get to it you need to maneuver around the comet and into a winding tunnel. Its not that hard to leave but getting there is not something just anyone can do. That’s where the story comes in.
Colossus comet in painting form is my depiction of that setting for future use, however this piece is also fairly scientifically accurate to what a close up view of a comet might actually be like if you could see through the blinding brightness.
Colossus Comet depicts a comet streaking across a star-filled black sky. Vibrant hues of orange, gold, blue, and white blend to create a luminous, dynamic tail, emphasizing motion and light. The textured comet nucleus and trailing fragment add depth, capturing the beauty and mystery of space in a striking celestial scene.
