Celppe Nebula

There is honestly not really a lot to say about this painting, i was around 3/4 maybe more of the way done with Nativitas de Stellaris when I painted this as a mental break from the very red/orange insanity I was working with nonstop on that piece.

Anyway, this was done with absolutely no plan whatsoever, basically picked a color scheme as far as possible from the other projects I was working on and ran with it.

It was also a bit of a speed paint especially for me, if i remember correctly I started this early one morning at about 4 am  by painting a canvas with black gesso and by evening the next day varnish was curing on it.

Around 3/4 the way through I started thinking it reminded me vaguely of kelp or seaweed  or other various marine plants deep in the ocean and so i decided to name it after kelp but with a bit of wordplay as per my usual M.O. 

At this point I still hadn’t actually decided to make these small faster paintings into a proper series since this was still only the second or technically third nebula I’ve painted at this scale. but the idea of having a seperate line of faster  simpler nebula pieces with this format was starting to take root.
