The Story of this Artwork
Nativitas de Stellaris is a Conceptual artwork aimed at creating a stylized depiction of the Birth of a newborn star and its subsequent Nova.
Naming this artwork “the birth of a star” in English didn’t quite feel right so I used a rough Latin translation as a nod to scientific naming conventions.
Nativitas, meaning “the birth” De translates to “of the” in this case and stellaris obviously being a possessive form of “Star” i am not fluent in Latin but I do speak a bit of it and have always been fascinated with linguistics and I like to use any excuse I can to learn about a variety of other languages haha.
This piece was primarily inspired by the NASA Article about the Birth of the Star FU Orionis and a digitally rendered Artists concept created by Caltech, both articles are linked above in the Info section.
